The Costanoan Ohlone Indian Canyon Resource is not affiliated in any way with the Santa Cruz Mission State Historic Park, the Mission Adobe or Holy Cross Church (other than having ancestors serve there as labor, etc. in the past)

- the public tour is now on Saturdays at 2pm (still free). There are two options
for entrance fees for the 7 room adobe : Individual visitors tickets cost
$2.00 for adults, $1.00 for children under 12 and senior citizens. These
tickets are non transfereable. The other option is only for those groups
travelling in the same vehicle. For the whole group, a vehicle pass can be
purchased for $6.00. This state park ticket can also be used for parking at
any California State Park (or beach) for that day.
- The annual Fiesta at the Santa Cruz Mission State Historic Park will be
in October 1999, More details later... Come celebrate and remember the
history of Santa Cruz before and after the mission was built, including those who live and worked at this unique
adobe. Exciting living history activities will include making candles,
adobe bricks, shell beads with pump drills, tule crafts, and much more!!
This year's event will also commemorate the grand re-opening of our new
bookstore, patio and garden area. Join us for a special hot rock
demonstration, story telling session, adobe tours and live entertainment
by Los Californios!.Scheduled events also include a ribbon cutting
initiated by local and state politicians, wine tasting and planting our
mission crops and native plants.
Admission is free, although donations are greatly appreciated. The Santa
Cruz Mission State Historic Park is located at 144 School Street,
overlooking downtown Santa Cruz. For more information, please call (831)
425-5849. The Fiesta is traditionally held on the first Sunday of October
each year.
- Field trips - Bring Your Class to the Adobe. The visit program usually consists of an Introduction to the Mission and local Ohlone peoples, a tour of the museum (restored adobe) and a living history craft activity such as making tule dolls or miniature adobe bricks. We Interpret:
- the indigenous experience of the mission, secularization, and post-secularization periods in Santa Cruz
- the relation of the adobe building to the larger complex and goals of Santa Cruz
- post-secularization Santa Cruz and California as exemplified by the residents of the adobe building and their renovations
- the role archeology plays in helping us understand Mission Santa Cruz, historic lifestyles and architecture

- LOCATION: Mission Hill, 1 block from Holy Cross Church (3 blocks from downtown Santa Cruz)
- ADDRESS: 144 School St. off Emmet St. (circle) from Water St.
- FROM HIGHWAY 17/HIGHWAY 1 INTERCHANGE (entrance to Santa Cruz): go straight down Ocean to Water and turn west (right) and follow Water to Emmet (top of hill) and turn right, 1 block to School St.

Picnic tables available, two week notice needed for group tours
On weekends, docents dressed in period costume demonstrate activities and lead tours.
