SPECIAL OPPORTUNITY FOR NATIVES AND ANYONE ELSE INTERESTED IN LEARNING THE MUTSUN LANGUAGE.... in a recent "guestbook" entry,
Quirina Luna Costillas, of Mutsun lineage, contacted us - she will offer to tutor and work with groups or individuals who wold like to explore and learn the Mustsun language, Costanoan language local to the San Juan Bautista area - her email is: ismenlak@lightspeed.net - you can scroll down to our guestbook and "view my guestbook" and read her actual message. This is an incredible opportunity and I intend to learn as much as I can. As your webmaster, I should tell you that I am Kahnawake Mohawk and spoke nothing BUT Kanienkeha (our word for what you may call "Mohawk language") until I was 6 years old - then it was lost as my family moved to California. What a loss and it is a quest of mine to relearn all I can these days. I relate to the symbolic and sociological value of the efforts people like Quirina and others are making to work with beautiful and very human tongues.

Wiyot Table Bluff Fundraising...

from Cheryl Seidner, Tribal Chair

He'ba'lo' Greetings,
On Saturday, April 7, 2001, the Table Bluff Reservation - Wiyot Tribe
is holding an Art Auction at the Eureka Art and Film Center, Eureka,
California. Many wonderful pieces of art have been donated, however,
we would like to offer even more items to our potential bidders. All
proceeds from the evening's events will go toward purchasing sites that
are sacred to the Tribe and the clean-up of those sites.
If you would like to donate an art item, or know of others whom you
feel might be interested in donating, or would like to know more about
our Auction, please do not hesitate to contact Ardith Huber at our
Tribal Office at (707)733-5055. Of course, all donations are tax
deductible.
Cawoks,
Cheryl A. Seidner
Tribal Chairwoman

REALLY IMPORTANT BROWSING INFORMATION

These pages are designed to be viewed using Netscape 4.x or equivalent. You will also need the QuickTime plugin (version 3, 4, or 5 for new multimedia files) for your browser. PC clones/windows users need the free QuickTime system software from Apple QuickTime Home to hear audio files and view our movies - this comes installed with a Mac if that is what you are using. This is essential system software for the browser plug-in to run properly and needs to be installed before the plug-in (included with the download) will work.
